I have probably what most people would die to have.
A summer internship offer in my desired field (Financial Data Analysis) in my desired city (New York City, New York), with a more than enough stipend (Approx. $40 per hour or more) in a big company, Bloomberg, and a great chance to convert it into a PPO (Pre-Placement Offer). Doing pretty well in my college academically and otherwise.
Wonderful parents and a great brother, and caring friends.
What more can one ask for in life? Nothing much, I guess.
Am I happy, I ask myself? And the answer is no. I dont know why, but something seems to be wrong. Anyways, can anyone explain what being happy means?

Congratulations Dude
I guess being happy is the day u say i got it all wholeheartedly...U know the bit here is i am trying to get to the same answer and something seems to be missin in life...i mean u got it all and then u get this feeling of restlesness...Please let me know if u figure it out..I am like trying.everything from learning french to salsa to writing to get to the point....
Let me try to explain the happiness in two different frames: The present and the future.
Case1.Happiness in the present context:
Consider the case of Australian cricket team after winning the champions trophy 2006. They were in such a happy mood that caused them to push a well respected person in India, Mr.Sarad Powar.
Case2. Happiness in future context:
Most of the people feel happy when they get married or have a child. Or take your own case, when you cracked JEE. You felt happy no?
(Or I am wrong??!!)
Now, what is the difference between the happiness of Aus. Team and that of your own? In my terms, I would like to call the happiness of Aus. team as "Illusion". I call it illusion, because it does not accomplish anything meaningful and dissipates so quickly. (Later on they apologised for pushing powar)
Your happiness(Case 2) I would like to say was the real happiness-- because it contributes to a better life - the underlying reality is true (Phew!!).
This comes from feeling that you are doing something with your life that will give you meaning forever. It's what we humans are looking for. This kind of joy comes when, for example, you feel that you are growing in wisdom, making a difference in other people's lives or changing the world.
When people think they are just cogs in a machine or that their existence makes no difference to anyone, they cannot feel a sense of joy, therefore, we need to feel that our relationships have permanence, and that our knowledge and good deeds have lasting value.
Happiness is the fuel our soul requires to lift it to a state of awareness and inspiration!!
Try ot appreciate the blessings you have...that is the key to happiness
Regards,
Kannan
Sorry, please ignore my previous comment...I am not "happy" with the examples I gave and find myself in error!! Afterall what I wanted to tell you was that any situation which gives meaning and purpose to your life will give you true happiness. So, case 1 in the previuos example should be modified to what "you feel" when you see your fav. team wins a tournament!!. That sounds more suitable I think. It may be meaningful to Ponting and co's life to win a series....
Sorry if it caused further to confusion!!
Congrats Zubu .. .... shayad every one of us knows what exactly is wrong, deep down there . shayad nahi ... :(
sorry .. as confused as one can be ... :(
i think u r over obsessed with this idea of happiness..... i mean why do u think so much about it ....i used to enjoy reading your blogs immensely ...i think it would suffice to say that i started blogging seeing you write so brilliantly and efforlessly... .. but that was some time back..... of late i dont like reading your posts...... they somehow depress me , make me happy for all ur achievements in IIM C but at the same time make me sad for the things u have done that u shudnt have , and the thoughts that you keep on having about life, death and happiness....of wrong and right , love and friendship and a myriad of other things....
u r entitled to write whatever u please.. after all its ur space , its ur life...maybe u have actually attained a "higher level"....but to me somehow.. the zubin i knew in my college days is no longer around.....
neway.. congrats once again for the internship... and please try to be happy.... i havent got anything like you going in my life except the wonderful parents and friends part....its pretty ordinary so as to say but i am as happy as i have been in my life.... why ??? i dont know and i dont care.....
bitch u'll b happy or atleast be not happy whn u shall stop bothering/wondering abt it....the harder u try to chase the bitchier it gets.....so baby jst live ur moments without ne inhibitions, fears or desires....do wot u alwyz want to......wish u luck.....tc....lov n luck....tp
Ever try living life and not thinking about it - you're 24 not 84 ...
I think you're missing a girlfriend and some excitement in life which won't come from sitting in front of the comp the whole day in your room.
Shape up and get out in the world ... it won't come to you in your room!
CAM with anonymous to an extent..
try falling in love with yourself..happened to me jst a few days back, I feel contentment..
All i can say is that you have seriously gone crazy!
